We started because money stress kept people awake at night
Back in 2019, two friends sat in a Sydney café watching people frantically check banking apps between sips of coffee. Everyone seemed worried about money but no one had simple tools that actually helped.
That conversation turned into corentivolix. We built something different—budgeting that doesn't require a finance degree or hours of setup. Just practical help for real people trying to manage their money without the anxiety.
How we got here wasn't exactly planned
Building a financial platform takes patience. And quite a few late nights debugging things that seemed simple at first.
The spreadsheet that wouldn't die
Started with a shared Google Sheet between friends. It worked surprisingly well but crashed constantly. People kept asking for copies, which felt like a sign.
First proper prototype
Quit our jobs—probably earlier than we should have. Built the first version that didn't look like it was made in 2003. Tested with 47 households across Sydney who gave brutally honest feedback.
Actually launched something
After two complete rebuilds and one near-bankruptcy moment, we released corentivolix to the public. The response was better than expected, which was a relief because we'd already signed a two-year lease.
Growing without losing ourselves
Hit 10,000 active users in March. Hired our first employees who weren't former roommates. Started getting feature requests we actually had resources to build.
Where we are now
Working with households across Australia. Still small enough that everyone on the team knows each user's pain points. Big enough that we can actually solve them properly.
What we believe about money and stress
Financial advice usually comes in two flavours—condescending simplicity or overwhelming complexity. We're aiming for the space in between.
Budgets shouldn't feel like punishment
Most budgeting tools make you feel guilty about every purchase. We'd rather help you understand your patterns and make adjustments that don't require giving up everything you enjoy. Life's too short for that.
Automation beats willpower every time
Relying on discipline alone doesn't work for most people. We automate the boring parts so you can focus on the decisions that actually matter. Your energy is better spent elsewhere.
Context matters more than categories
Spending $80 on dinner might be fine or concerning depending on your situation. Our approach looks at your whole picture rather than judging individual transactions out of context.
Privacy isn't negotiable
We see your financial data. That comes with serious responsibility. We don't sell it, don't share it, and don't use it for anything except helping you manage your budget better.
The people actually building this
Small team. Everyone does multiple jobs. No one has a fancy title that doesn't match what they actually do.
Linnea Vesterholm
Financial Planning Director
Spent eight years at a major bank before deciding she wanted to actually help people instead of selling them products they didn't need. Builds the frameworks that make our budgeting advice practical rather than theoretical.
Callum Breckridge
Client Strategy Lead
Talks to users constantly. Sometimes too much—he's been known to spend two hours on calls that were scheduled for fifteen minutes. Turns those conversations into features that people actually want to use.
Clear language only
Financial jargon exists to confuse people. We explain things like we're talking to friends who deserve straight answers.
Real support when stuck
Actual humans respond to questions. Usually within a few hours, not days. We remember previous conversations so you don't repeat yourself.
Pricing that makes sense
One clear price. No hidden fees that show up later. No premium tiers that lock away the actually useful features.
Built for Australians
Understands Australian banking, tax years, and financial systems. Not a US product with Australian dollars slapped on.
